The transactional logs in Brevo keep track of everything that happens to your transactional emails, such as when they were sent, delivered, opened, or clicked. These actions are called \"events\", and they are recorded for all emails sent via API, SMTP, and automation workflows. You can also preview the content of sent emails and export your log data for reporting or troubleshooting purposes.

Good to know

Transactional logs and email previews are stored indefinitely by default. You can configure a custom retention period at any time. To learn more, check our dedicated article Manage the retention period of transactional logs and email previews.

\n If your account has sent\n more than 10 million email events,\n an additional platform-wide policy applies: any events older than 24\n months\n will be automatically deleted, regardless of your custom settings. Affected\n accounts receive advance notifications (in-app and by email) before\n any deletion occurs. Access your transactional logs

To access your transactional logs, go to Transactional > Logs. The logs page lists all the actions that happened on your transactional emails, such as when an email was sent, opened, or when a contact clicked an unsubscribe link.

From the Logs page, you can:

  1. Refresh the page to view the most recent transactional logs.
    2. \n
  2. \nExport your transactional logs as a CSV file.
    3. \n
  3. Filter your transactional logs by recipient, recipient domain, message ID, subject line, or keyword.
    4. \n
  4. Filter your transactional logs over a period of time.
    5. \n
  5. Filter your transactional logs by event, by sender, and by tag.

\n To filter your logs for emails sent through automations, use a dedicated\n sender or add a tag to the emails used in your automations. You can then\n use these as filters in your logs.\n

Export your transactional logs

\n The export includes the main log details only. If you\n need additional data, such as the sending IP address, reply-to address,\n or template ID, you can retrieve it using the\n Brevo Transactional Email API.\n

You can export up to 200,000 log entries as a CSV file for use in external reporting tools, audits, or troubleshooting. The exported file includes the following details:

  • sub: email subject

  • frm: sender
    • \n
    \n
  • email: recipient
    • \n
  • tag: any tags
    • \n
  • mid: message ID

To export your transactional logs:

  1. Go to Transactional > Logs.

  2. (Optional) Apply filters to narrow down the entries you want to export.
    3. \n
  3. Click Download CSV.

The CSV file is generated and downloaded to your device.

\n The export\n only includes log entries within your current\n retention period.\n Events deleted under the data retention\n policy cannot be recovered or exported retroactively.\n

View a transactional log details and email preview

You can access the full details of a transactional log and preview the content of the sent email.

To access the full details of a transactional log:

  1. Go to Transactional > Logs.
    2. \n
  2. (Optional) Apply filters to narrow down the logs and find the email you want to preview.
    3. \n
  3. Click the eye icon next to the log entry.

From there, you can:

  1. View the transactional email details.

  2. View the transactional email history.

  3. Preview the rendered email content.

  5. Resend the transactional email.

  6. Manually delete the transactional log.

\n Deletions are queued and processed in scheduled batches. Logs may take\n up to 72 hours to be fully deleted.\n
