About the new data retention policy

When a contact opens an email, or when an email is sent or delivered, Brevo saves this as an event.
From the 1st January 2025, if you have more than 10 million email events, any events older than 24 months will be deleted by default, in order to maintain a good standard of performance. If you wish to keep events older than 24 months, you can download reports every month. Enterprise clients can also activate our paying option for extended data retention.

Good to know

You can manage the retention period of your transactional logs by specifying how long you want to store them. If you have more than 10 million email events, the new data retention policy still applies, and transactional logs older than 24 months will be deleted regardless of the retention rules you defined.

Which events will no longer be visible?

For performance reasons, if you have more than 10 million email events, any open, sent, and delivered events older than 24 months will no longer be visible after a 7-day buffer period.

➡️  For example

You have fewer than 10 million email events: All data is kept with no time limit.

You have more than 10 million email events:

  • All events are within 24 months: All data is kept.
  • Some events are older than 24 months: Events older than 24 months will be deleted after a 7-day buffer period.

The events that are older than 24 months will no longer be visible in:
