Testing an Automation workflow

In this article, we will explain how to test an Automation workflow to make sure it works well.

After creating a workflow, we recommend you test it to make sure it works as intended. Brevo offers a Test your workflow function when creating or editing a workflow:

Test your Automation workflow

💡 Good to know
For the test to work correctly, activate your workflow before testing it.

To test a workflow:

  1. Click the Test your workflow icon.
  2. Enter the email address you want to use for the test.
  3. If your workflow contains an Add a delay step and you want to skip it, select Skip 'Wait For' steps.
  4. Click DONE.

For steps such as Wait until and If/Else conditions, make sure to manually trigger the event with your test email, for example:

  • If you specify to "wait until the contact open the email", make sure to open the test email you received to trigger the next step of the workflow.
  • If you select an "if/else condition with a contact attribute", e.g. if the contact is a woman, make sure to create and fill in the attribute on your account beforehand.

Check the results of the test

To check the results of the test, go to Automation > Logs > Workflow logs. All tests appear under a log message that contains the word (test).
