Why and how to migrate to the new Drag & Drop Editor?

The classic Drag & Drop Editor will no longer be available in the future. To be able to edit your email templates, you have to migrate them to the new editor

To offer you a better email design experience, we have launched a new version of the Drag & Drop Editor containing all the latest up-to-date features. We have reunited all the information you need on the new Drag & Drop Editor to help you migrate to this new and more powerful version!

🤔 What are the classic and new Drag & Drop Editor? 

💡 Good to know
If you signed up after September 2021, the new version of the Drag & Drop Editor is automatically available on your account and you do not need to make any changes. Check our dedicated articles in the Drag & Drop Editor section.

It is easy to spot the difference between the two versions of the Drag & Drop Editor, you can visually spot the difference:

🆕 A new version of the Drag & Drop Editor with extra features 

We have revamped the Drag & Drop Editor to help you create professional and customized email campaigns with the latest up-to-date features: 

The new version of the Drag & Drop Editor is automatically activated on your account, no action is needed on your side. You can access it in the same way as you accessed the classic version: during the Design step of your email campaign or template creation.

You only need to migrate your existing templates to the new Drag & Drop Editor to be able to edit them in the future and to use them in your email campaign and automations ⬇️. 

🎨 Migrate your existing templates to the new Drag & Drop Editor

❗️ Important
If you do not migrate your templates from the classic Drag & Drop Editor, you won't be able to edit them in the future. 

To migrate your existing templates from the classic Drag & Drop Editor to the new one: 

  1. Go to Campaigns > Templates
  2. Click Edit next to the name of the template you want to migrate.

  3. At the Design step, click Edit the email content
  4. In the header of the classic Drag & Drop Editor, click Edit your template in new editor. DDE_edit-template-new-editor_EN-US.jpg
  5. Optional: Edit your template in the new editor and enjoy the new features that it offers to create a modern and advanced email design.

  6. Access the automations and API calls in which you were using the template you've just migrated and replace it with the template from the new Drag & Drop Editor. Your migrated template's name is the same as the previous one but starts with the [New editor] tag.

Congratulations! 🎉 Your template is now editable in the new Drag & Drop Editor and you can access all the features that it offers! 

❓ FAQs

✍️ What should I do after migrating my templates?

You can update all your automation and API calls in which you were using the template you've just migrated and replace it with the template from the new Drag & Drop Editor. Your migrated template's name is the same as the previous one but starts with the [New editor] tag.

❗️ Important
If you do not migrate your templates from the classic Drag & Drop Editor, you won't be able to edit them in the future. You will still be able to view and use those templates in your automations and transactional emails.
⏮️ Can I go back to the classic editor if I don't like the new one?

No, the classic Drag & Drop Editor will be definitely discontinued in the future. 

🗓️ What will happen to the templates I haven't migrated?

You will be able to view and use those templates in your automation and transactional emails, but you will no longer be able to edit them in the classic Drag & Drop Editor. Migrate to the new Drag & Drop Editor to be able to edit them.

✍️ Will I be able to edit my templates created with the classic Drag & Drop Editor after its deprecation?

No, you won't be able to edit your templates from the classic Drag & Drop Editor. However, if you migrate your existing templates, you will be able to edit them in the new Drag & Drop Editor. 

😢 Are there any features that were available in the classic editor that won't be available in the new version?

No, we have migrated all your favorite features from the classic Drag & Drop Editor to the new one, and we even improved them and added new ones to offer you a better experience and more advanced settings!
