Complete the guided setup

The guided setup helps you choose how your WooCommerce contacts are imported into Brevo and how new subscribers give their consent. You can change these settings later from the plugin settings.

Choose which status to keep for existing contacts

If your Brevo account already has contacts, for example from a previous store connection, you're asked which subscription status Brevo should keep for contacts that exist in both Brevo and WooCommerce.

  1. Choose which subscription status Brevo should keep for matching contacts:
    • [Recommended] Keep Brevo status: Matching contacts keep their existing status and preferences in Brevo. For example, contacts who are unsubscribed in Brevo remain unsubscribed.
    • Use store status: Matching contacts take their subscription status from your WooCommerce store.
  2. Click Continue.

Choose how to import your customers

💡 Good to know
Syncing your WooCommerce customers also syncs your eCommerce data and installs the Brevo tracker on your store. This allows Brevo to receive eCommerce data and track customer activity.

WooCommerce doesn't store a marketing subscription status for customers. Choose how Brevo should handle your existing WooCommerce customers when importing them.

  1. Choose one of the following options:
    • Mark all customers as subscribed: All customers imported from WooCommerce can receive your email campaigns. Choose this option only if you already have consent to email all of these customers.
    • [Recommended] Subscribe customers with accounts only: Customers who created a WooCommerce account are marked as subscribed. Guest checkout customers are blocklisted and won't receive campaigns.
  2. Click Start import. Brevo starts importing your contacts, orders, products, and categories.

  3. Wait until the Sync complete summary appears. This may take a few minutes, depending on the size of your store.
  4. Click Set email permissions to continue, or Skip for now to configure these settings later from the plugin settings.

(Optional) Set up email permissions

Choose whether new subscribers receive a confirmation email and whether shoppers can opt in to your marketing at checkout. Both settings are optional.

  1. (Optional) Activate Send a subscription confirmation email to send a confirmation email when a customer subscribes. Only people who newly interact with your store after connecting receive a confirmation email. Your existing contacts are never emailed.

If you activate this option, choose how subscribers should confirm their subscription. Use the following tabs to view instructions for each option:

Double confirmation email Simple confirmation email
    1. Select the Double opt-in email template you want to use.
    2. (Optional) Activate the Confirmation page after clicking on the validation link in the email option and enter the URL of the page where contacts should be redirected.
    3. (Optional) Activate the Also send a final confirmation email once they've confirmed option and select the template to use.

Customers who subscribe using the opt-in checkbox at checkout will now need to confirm their subscription by clicking the link in the double opt-in confirmation email.

Until they confirm, their WC_DOUBLE_OPTED attribute is set to pending. Once confirmed, it updates to opted-in.

  2. (Optional) Activate Show a marketing opt-in checkbox at checkout to let shoppers subscribe to your marketing while they check out, then configure:
    • Opt-in field label: The text displayed next to the checkbox, such as "Subscribe to our newsletter".
    • Checkbox location: Where the checkbox appears on your checkout page.
  3. Click Save and finish.

Finish the setup

Once the guided setup is complete, your WooCommerce contacts, orders, products, and categories are imported into Brevo.
