Segment your contacts using a segment template

❗️ Important
On 1st January 2025, dynamic lists will become static lists. They will no longer be updated automatically but will remain available on the Lists page, working like other Brevo lists.
To replace your dynamic lists, we recommend using segments.

The key to reaching the right people at the right time is organizing your contact database into targeted segments. While creating these segments manually can be a time-consuming and challenging task, using segment templates can save you time and effort by providing instant access to ready-made groups of contacts based on common criteria such as demographics, behavior, preferences, and engagement history.

Good to know

  • If you want to create a segment from scratch, check our dedicated article Create a segment to filter your contacts.
  • You can add a maximum of 100 conditions in a segment.
  • For multi-select options in a condition, you can add a maximum of 50 tags.
  • If you have more than 2 million contacts, you have to click Search Contacts
    to apply your segment to your contacts list.

What is a segment template?

A segment template refers to a ready-made group of contacts that have been categorized and organized based on specific criteria or characteristics. It can serve as a starting point for segmentation and can be further customized based on specific criteria unique to your business. 

Unlike manually creating segments from scratch, using segment templates offers a convenient and time-saving solution. They eliminate the need for extensive data analysis and manual filtering, providing instant access to groups of contacts that share common traits or behaviors.

Using segment templates enhances the precision and relevance of your campaigns. You can create personalized messages, offers, and experiences that resonate with each segment's specific needs and interests, leading to higher customer engagement, improved conversion rates, and, ultimately, better business outcomes.

What segment templates are available in Brevo?

💡 Good to know
The templates available depend on what conditions are available: some conditions only become available after being triggered by particular actions from your contacts.
➡️ For example, the All WhatsApp subscribers template and, therefore, the WhatsApp Marketing domain tab will appear once a contact subscribes to your WhatsApp campaigns.

Segment templates are organized by domain, and each domain contains many templates that you can use. The following table lists all domains available for segment templates and provides just one example of segment template per domain, but there are many more available:

Email marketing

Unengaged email contacts
Contacts who have not opened or clicked an email campaign in the last 30 days.

SMS marketing

Not contacted by SMS in a while
SMS contacts who have not received an SMS campaign in the last 6 months.

Ecommerce

Recent discount code users
Customers who have placed an order using a specific discount code in the last 30 days.

WhatsApp marketing

All WhatsApp subscribers
Contacts that are subscribed to your WhatsApp campaigns.
Demographics Contacts from a country code
Contacts whose mobile phone number has a specific country code.
Payments All payments customers
Customers who used a payment link to pay you.
Sales Your next tasks
Contacts with whom you have a task to do in the next week.

Segment your contacts using a segment template

From the Contacts page From the Segments page
  1. Go to Contacts.
  2. To access segment templates:
    1. For Free, Starter, and Business users: click Use segment template above the contact listing.
    2. For Enterprise users: click Segment with AI > Check our segment templates.

  3. Click a tab corresponding to a domain and select the segment template you want to use.

  4. (Optional) Tailor the segment by updating the pre-filled information or adding criteria. This step allows you to create a more specific and targeted contacts group that fits your specific needs.
  5. Click Save segment.
