Supported keywords for SMS (HELP, STOP, START, INFO)

When receiving your SMS campaigns, recipients from some specific countries can reply to your SMS campaigns with keywords with different purposes. Brevo automatically processes the following SMS keywords:

❌ Unsubscription keywords

  • STOP
    Brevo will automatically unsubscribe and blocklist the contact from your database to be excluded from future sending. The STOP keyword is mandatory for some countries, such as France or the USA. To learn more, check our dedicated article Include an unsubscribe option in your SMS messages.
    🇳🇴 Opt-out keyword specific to Norway recipients

    The STOP code doesn't work in Norway. You have to include the UNSUB code instead to enable your Norway recipients to unsubscribe to your SMS campaigns.

    💡 Good to know
    After sending STOP, your contacts will receive an automated message confirming they've been unsubscribed from your SMS campaigns—except in France, Norway, the USA, and Canada.
  • STOPALL, END, QUIT, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, UNSUB, and unsub can also be used as opt-out keywords in the supported countries. 

✅ Subscription keywords

  • START and YES
    The START and YES keywords allow your contact to re-subscribe to your SMS messages if they had previously sent STOP. Their subscription status on Brevo will automatically change from Blocklisted to Subscribed for your SMS campaigns. If they were not subscribed to your SMS campaigns before, their status will also automatically be set to Subscribed.

  • HELP
    Brevo will respond with the following message:
    msg&Data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel or call 844-744-2639.
  • INFO
    Brevo will respond with the following message: 
    Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel. msg&Data rates may apply.
