Classic editor - Test an email sent from an automation

The classic automation editor is being deprecated. All users are gradually being migrated to the new automation editor. Once migrated, you will no longer be able to create or edit automations in the classic editor. To learn more, check our dedicated article Migration to the new automation editor: what you need to know.

In this article, we will explain how to test an email sent from an automation to make sure it works well.

Good to know

In some cases, we recommend running a real test scenario instead of using our test feature:

  • For automations with track events (e.g., abandoned cart automations), trigger the automation by performing the action directly on your website, such as adding a product to your cart.
  • For automations that require the contact to open or click an email (e.g., "wait until the contact opens the email"), complete the necessary steps to receive the email and open or click it manually.

Test an automation

💡 Good to know
For the test to work correctly, activate your automation before testing it.

To test a workflow:

  1. Click the Test your workflow icon.

  2. Enter the email address you want to use for the test.
  3. If your automation contains an Add a delay step and you want to skip it, select Skip 'Wait For' steps.
  4. Click DONE.

Check the results of the test

To check the results of the test, go to Automations > Logs > Workflow logs. All tests appear under a log message that contains the word (test).
