Adding a Bcc recipient to emails sent via an Automation workflow

In this article, we will explain how to add a Bcc recipient to send a hidden copy of emails sent through an Automation workflow. Adding a Bcc recipient to your emails can be useful to keep your sales team up-to-date or know when a contact has subscribed to a list in real-time.

❗️ Important
Sending a hidden copy of an email to a Bcc recipient consumes email credits. For example, if you send an email to 1.000 contacts through an Automation workflow, the 1.000 hidden copies will also use email credits for a total of 2.000 email credits used.

Brevo Automation allows you to add a Bcc recipient to emails sent through a workflow. This option is available at the Send an Email step of a workflow:

Add a Bcc recipient

There are two ways you can add a Bcc recipient to your emails:

  • Send a blind copy to specific recipient(s): simply enter the email address(es) of the recipient(s) separated by a comma.

  • Send a blind copy to recipient(s) defined in a contact attribute: select the contact attribute which contains the address(es) to be used for the contact, e.g. "SALES_REP".

💡 Good to know
Only "text" type contact attributes can be used.

Verify that the Bcc is working

To make sure the emails are sent to the Bcc recipient, check the "bcc" variable in the workflow logs:

  1. Go to Automation > Logs.
  2. In the Workflow logs tab, filter your workflow and the Send an Email step.
  3. Click the desired step and look for the email adress of the Bcc recipient in the "bcc" variable.
