Why have I been charged taxes on my invoices?

You may have been charged taxes on your invoices for one of the following reasons:

  • You did not add your tax number in Brevo
Taxes might be charged if you haven’t provided a valid tax number. If you have one, ensure it’s added to your billing information in Brevo before completing any purchase.
  • You entered an incorrect tax number in Brevo
Verify that your tax number is accurate and update it in your billing information if necessary.
  • Your VAT number is not registered for intra-EU transactions
Check if your VAT number is listed in the VIES (VAT Information Exchange System). If it’s not, take the steps required to register it.
  • You did not provide Brevo with proof of your tax-exempt status
Certain entities, such as non-governmental organizations (NGOs), may be exempt from tax payments and need to provide a proof of their tax-exempt status to not be charged taxes on their invoices.

Can I get a tax refund from past invoices?

Unfortunately, if an invoice is issued with tax because a valid tax number was not provided, we will not be able to refund the tax. Make sure you have added a valid VAT number in your billing information before completing any purchase.

💡 Good to know
To avoid double taxation, we recommend contacting your local tax authorities and presenting the invoice you paid to Brevo.

I don't have a tax number
