Migrate from one Business Solution Provider to Brevo to use WhatsApp features

One phone number must be associated with one Business Solution Provider (BSP) at a time. If you already use your phone number with another BSP than Brevo, you need to migrate your phone number from your actual BSP to Brevo.

❗️ Important
If you use your phone number with the WhatsApp Messenger or WhatsApp Business App, you must migrate your phone number from the phone app to the WhatsApp Business Platform. To learn more, check our dedicated article Migrate your WhatsApp phone number to WhatsApp Business Platform.

❓What is a Business Solution Provider (BSP)?

If you are not a developer or would like to connect WhatsApp to the rest of your technology stack, such as an omnichannel inbox, customer support software, or a bot platform, you can work with a Business Solution Provider (BSP) to manage communications to and from customers. Brevo is your Business Solution Provider. We can help you communicate with your customers on the WhatsApp Business Platform for the approved use cases of customer support and time-sensitive, personalized notifications.

During the migration, we have two types of BSP:

  • Source BSP: The BSP you are migrating from.
  • Destination BSP: The BSP you are migrating to. In this case, Brevo.

To migrate your phone number, Brevo will port it from your Source BSP to your Destination BSP, Brevo.

❓What is Number Porting?

Number Porting means that a phone number already registered in the WhatsApp Business API can be moved between WhatsApp Business API accounts. It allows businesses to change of BSP or move their number to a new account, but only if the source and destination Business Manager IDs are the same.

❓What is migrated from the other BSP to Brevo?

After migration, some features are migrated, and some are not:

✅ Migrated Not migrated
  • Display name,
  • Quality rating,
  • Messaging limits,
  • Official Business Account status (Green badge)
  • Low-quality, rejected, or pending message template.
  • Message and chat history.
  • Sandboxed accounts and phone numbers.
  • Message templates previously approved by WhatsApp.

❓From which BSP will my WhatsApp messages be sent and how will I be charged during migration?

Before migration After migration
  • Messages will be charged by your Source BSP.
  • Your Source BSP can continue to send and receive messages without service disruption until the migration process is done on your Destination BSP.
  • Messages sent from the Source BSP and not delivered before migration will be charged by your Source BSP.
  • Messages sent after migration will be charged by Brevo, your Destination BSP.
  • Once the migration is done, your Destination BSP, Brevo, can receive and send messages
