Migrate to the new conversion engine

✅ Plan availability
Conversions are available on Starter, Standard, Professional, and Enterprise plans. Creating multiple conversion metrics and using advanced features (cooperative last-touch attribution and custom events) is available on Professional and Enterprise plans only. For more information, check our pricing page or talk to one of our sales experts.

Brevo has introduced a new conversion engine that makes tracking and measuring marketing performance easier and more accurate. You must migrate to the new engine to continue tracking conversions.

💡 Good to know
The new conversion engine is being released gradually. If you have an automation created with the classic editor that includes at least one "Record a conversion" step, you will be migrated later. This article does not apply to you yet.

Why we built a new conversion engine

We rebuilt our conversion engine to give you better tools to measure and optimize your marketing performance across all channels.

Here is what makes the new conversion engine better:

  • 📬 Multi-channel attribution
Track conversions across Email and SMS. See the complete customer journey and understand how each channel contributes to your results.
  • 🛠️ Simpler, faster setup
Setting up conversion tracking is now straightforward and intuitive, saving you time and effort.
  • 👀 Clearer tracking
Know exactly which campaigns and automations drive real business results with transparency and actionable insights you can trust.
  • 📊 Advanced reporting
Access powerful dashboards with flexible attribution models, detailed analytics, and visual reports that help you make better marketing decisions.

Differences between the old and new conversion engines

This table shows the key differences between the old and new conversion engines:

Old conversion engine New conversion engine
Tracked channels Email conversions only Multi-channel conversions (Email and SMS)
Automations
  • A "Record a conversion" step is necessary to record conversions in the classic automation editor
  • No conversion tracking in the new automation editor
Automatic tracking of conversions in the new automation editor
Setup Complex setup and configuration Streamlined setup process
Event filtering Basic event tracking with event name and parameters Advanced filtering options (for example, product price above a specific amount or whether a coupon was applied)
Attribution model Last touch attribution model Linear and cooperative last-touch attribution models
Reporting Basic reporting Advanced dashboards and visual reports

Migrate to the new conversion engine

❗ Important
Once the new engine is available in your account, your old conversion metrics will stop recording new conversions. You must migrate to continue tracking.

Follow these steps to migrate:

  1. Export your historical conversion data
  2. Recreate your conversion metrics in the new engine

Step 1: Export your historical conversion data

💡 Good to know
The export option is available for a limited time before and after the new engine launches. Download your data as soon as possible.

Your historical conversion data will not transfer to the new engine. Export it now to keep a record for your own reference and to help you recreate your conversion metrics in the new system.

To export your conversion data:

  1. Go to Analytics > Conversions.
  2. Click Download conversion data.

  3. Click Export as CSV. The file can take a few minutes to download.
  4. Click the bell icon 🔔 in the header to open your notifications.
  5. Next to the message "Your conversion data is ready for download", click Download the file.

You will receive two CSV files:

  • 🛠️ Conversion metrics file
Contains your conversion settings (Name, Tracking Type, Event Name, Default Value, Conversion Number, Conversion Revenue, Status). Use this file as a reference when recreating your conversions in the new engine.
  • ✉️ Campaign performance file
Contains conversion data by campaign (Campaign Name, Conversion Number, Conversion Revenue). Use this file for your records and reporting.

Step 2: Recreate your conversion metrics in the new engine

Your previous conversions cannot be migrated automatically. You need to recreate them in the new engine by going to Analytics > Conversions.

Use the conversion metrics file you exported in Step 1 as a reference. This file contains all your conversion metrics and their settings, which makes it easy to replicate the same conversions in the new system.

FAQs

Will my historical conversion data transfer automatically?

No, historical conversion data will not transfer to the new engine. We recommend exporting your data to keep for your records. The exported data includes your conversion settings and campaign performance, which you can use as a reference when recreating your conversions.

I have multiple conversions set up, but my plan doesn't allow me to recreate all of them. What should I do?

The new conversion engine introduces plan-based access to conversion metrics:

  • Free plan: Conversion tracking is not available. You will not be able to recreate any conversion metric in the new engine.
  • Starter and Standard plans: You can create 1 conversion metric with a linear attribution model and access to basic reporting.
  • Professional and Enterprise plans: You have unlimited conversion metrics, custom event support, 2 attribution models (linear and cooperative last-touch), and advanced reporting.

If you currently have multiple conversions configured and your plan limits you to fewer (or none), we recommend the following:

  • Identify your most critical conversion goal and focus on the one that best reflects your primary business objective (e.g., purchases, bookings, or signups).
  • Recreate that conversion as your single metric in the new engine.
  • Consider upgrading your plan if tracking multiple conversion metrics is essential to your marketing strategy. The new engine is significantly more powerful and flexible than the previous version. To learn more, check our dedicated article Upgrade to a higher plan.
Can I use both the old and new conversion engines at the same time?

No, the old and new conversion engines cannot run simultaneously. Once the new engine is available in your account, the old system will stop working.

Is migration to the new conversion engine mandatory?

Yes, migration is mandatory if you want to continue tracking conversions. Once the new engine launches, your old conversion metrics will stop recording new conversions. You must recreate your conversions in the new engine to continue tracking.

How long will I have access to export my historical data?

The export option is available for a limited time before and shortly after the new engine launches. We recommend downloading your data as soon as possible to ensure you have a complete record of your conversion history.

What attribution models are available in the new conversion engine?

The new conversion engine offers two attribution models:

  • Linear attribution: Credit is split equally among all marketing activities that occurred before the conversion.
  • Cooperative last-touch attribution: 100% of the credit goes to the last eligible marketing activity before the conversion.
✅ Plan availability
The cooperative last-touch attribution model is available on Professional and Enterprise plans only. For more information, check our pricing page or talk to one of our sales experts.
What channels can I track with the new conversion engine?

The new conversion engine supports multi-channel tracking across Email and SMS. This is a significant upgrade from the old engine, which only tracked email conversions.

🔈 Coming soon
Multi-channel tracking across Push and WhatsApp.
I use the "Record a conversion" step in my automations. Do I need to migrate?

If you have an automation created with the classic editor that includes at least one "Record a conversion" step, you will be migrated later. This article does not apply to you yet.

Will the setup process be more complicated than the old system?

No, the setup process is actually simpler and more intuitive than the old system. While you need to recreate your conversions, the streamlined process makes this faster and easier. Plus, you can use the exported conversion metrics file as a reference to quickly set up the same conversions in the new engine.
