Automatically blocklist contacts from both your email campaigns and transactional emails

If a contact unsubscribes from your transactional emails, you may also wish to blocklist them from your email campaigns, and vice-versa. You can achieve this through a simple automation that will automatically blocklist contacts who unsubscribe from one type of email from the other type as well.

Create an automation

  1. Go to Automations.
  2. Click Create an automation.
  3. Create an automation from scratch using the new editor.
  4. Click Create automation.

Step 1/2: Allow contacts who unsubscribe from your emails to enter the automation

  1. In the Trigger tab, drag and drop the Email - Unsubscribed from emails step into the canvas.

  2. (Optional) Refine the trigger by applying Email filters. For example, you can choose to start the automation only for contacts who unsubscribe from transactional emails. If no filter is selected, the automation will trigger when contacts unsubscribe from any type of email.

  3. (Optional) Restrict the automation to contacts who meet specific criteria by applying Contact filters. This provides more control over who enters the automation. For example, you can limit it to contacts who are already unengaged.

  4. Click Confirm trigger.

Step 2/2: Blocklist contacts from your other type of emails

  2. Select the type of email you want to blocklist contacts for:
    • Transactional emails
The contact will stop receiving transactional emails from the senders you select.
    • Marketing campaigns
The contact will no longer receive email campaigns from any of your senders.
    • All emails and senders
The contact will stop receiving transactional emails and email campaigns from all your senders.

  2. In the Re-entry after exit section, activate the Allow contact re-entry after exit option.new-automations_re-entry_en-us.png
  3. Click Activate automation.

Your automation is now active. Contacts will enter it once they unsubscribe from your emails and will then be automatically blocklisted from the other type of email you selected.
