The unsubscribe link allows your recipients to opt out of your marketing emails by directing them to your Brevo unsubscribe page. It is a mandatory element in all marketing emails, as it ensures compliance and maintains a positive experience for your contacts.
By default, email campaigns sent from Brevo include an unsubscribe link in the footer, leading to a standard unsubscribe page. Since this standard unsubscribe page may not match your branding or recipient’s preferred language, we recommend creating and linking to custom unsubscribe pages in your marketing emails.
Linking a custom unsubscribe page to your marketing emails is a two-step process:
- Insert the unsubscribe link into your email design.
- Choose the custom unsubscribe page where you want to redirect your recipients.
Before you start
Create a custom unsubscribe page for each language in which you write your email campaigns to ensure that your recipients will receive an unsubscribe link that corresponds to your branding and to their language. 1️⃣ Add an unsubscribe link in your campaign design
Once you have created a custom unsubscribe page, you can add your unsubscribe link to your campaign design. The process for adding an unsubscribe link in your campaign design is different based on the editor you are using to build your email:
Depending on the way you design your email with the Drag & Drop Editor, the process to add the unsubscribe link differs:
A default unsubscribe link containing the standard unsubscribe page is inserted in the footer of your email design. You can customize the text or section format and colors to match your branding. You simply need to choose which custom unsubscribe page you want to use under the link.
Drag and drop a pre-designed Footer section at the end of your email design that already contains an unsubscribe link. You can also insert a Text content block to which you will add a link. You can customize the sentence and footer design to your tone of voice and branding.
You will then simply need to choose which custom unsubscribe page you want to use under the link.
Manually add an unsubscribe link in a campaign
To manually add an unsubscribe link in a campaign created in the HTML and Simple editors, simply insert an unsubscribe placeholder in an HTML hyperlink tag <a> based on the template language you're using:
In the Simple Editor or HTML editor, you will need to manually add an unsubscribe page link placeholder. To manually add an unsubscribe page link in an email:
- In the HTML editor, add the
{{ unsubscribe }}
placeholder in an HTML hyperlink tag <a>:<a href="{{ unsubscribe }}">Unsubscribe from The Green Yoga</a>
- In the Simple editor, click the Insert link icon. Then paste the
{{ unsubscribe }}
placeholder in the URL field, and enter the text you want to display in the Link title field.
By default, the Brevo unsubscribe page is available to your recipients but you can choose a custom one from the Additional settings of your email campaign.
