Create a custom double opt-in (DOI) confirmation template for your Brevo subscription forms

❗️ Important
This procedure only applies if you're using Brevo subscription forms. If you want to use external subscription forms, check our dedicated article Create a double opt-in subscription using an automation.

When sending a double opt-in confirmation to contacts who have subscribed through your subscription form, you can choose Brevo's default double opt-in confirmation template or create your own custom template. This custom template needs to include a specific tag to work.

⚙️ Set up your email template

  1. Go to Campaigns > Templates > Email.
  2. Click New Template.
  3. Complete the Setup step just like a regular email template. We recommend you write a clear subject line, such as Confirm your subscription.
    💡 Good to know
    Do not add personalization using contact attributes to your double opt-in confirmation template. Since no information is stored in the attributes of the contacts who will receive this email, only the fallback value will be shown.
  4. Click Show Advanced Options.
  5. In the Add a tag field, enter optin. This step is necessary in order for you to be able to select this email template for your subscription form confirmation.
  6. Click Next Step.

🖌️ Design your email template

You can now design your email template and add your confirmation link:

  1. Choose a template design and edit it as desired.
  2. Add a Button block to your template. 
  3. Add the Double opt-in link to your button:
    1. Select your button.
    2. Click the Add link icon.
    3. From the Type of link dropdown menu, select Double opt-in link. You can also add a Link title that will appear when you hover the mouse over the button.
    4. Click Insert.
  4. Once you're done, click Save and activate.

🔗 Link your custom double opt-in confirmation template to your subscription form

  1. Go to Contacts > Forms and select your subscription form.
  2. At the Settings step, select Double confirmation email and choose your custom email template from the dropdown menu.
