When sending a double opt-in email to contacts who have subscribed through a sign-up form created in Brevo, you can use our default double opt-in template or create a custom one.
➡️ To learn more about the double opt-in process, check our dedicated article Double opt-in (DOI): What it is and how to track user sign-ups.
⚙️ Set up your email template
- Go to Campaigns > Templates.
- Click Create Template > Email template.
- Complete the Setup step just like a regular email template. We recommend you write a clear subject line, such as Confirm your subscription.
💡 Good to knowDo not add personalization using contact attributes to your double opt-in confirmation template. Since no information is stored in the attributes of the contacts who will receive this email, only the fallback value will be shown. - Click Show Advanced Options.
- (Optional) In the Add a tag field, enter optin.
- Click Next Step.
🖌️ Design your email template
You can now design your email template, which includes your consent text and your confirmation link:
- Choose a template design and edit it as desired.
❗️ ImportantDo not add any advertising or promotional content, as the purpose of the email is purely to confirm the subscriber’s consent.
-
[Recommended] To keep proof of your contact's consent in the transactional logs, add a Text block containing your consent text. This consent text should match the consent text from the GDPR field on your form.
➡️ For example
If your form's GDPR field mentions:
I agree to receive your newsletters and accept the data privacy statement (https://thegreenyoga.com/legal/privatepolicy/).
Then your double opt-in confirmation email should mention:
By clicking the following button, you confirm your agreement to the following statement:
"I agree to receive your newsletters and accept the data privacy statement (https://thegreenyoga.com/legal/privatepolicy/)." - Add a Button block to your template, below your consent text.
- Add the Double opt-in link to your button:
- Select your button.
- Click the Add link icon.
- From the Type of link dropdown menu, select Double opt-in link. You can also add a Link title that will appear when you hover the mouse over the button.
- Click Insert.
- Once you're done, click Save & quit, then Save and activate.
🔗 Link your custom double opt-in confirmation template to your sign-up form
