Create a custom double opt-in (DOI) email template for a sign-up form created in Brevo

❗️ Important
This article is only applicable for forms created in Brevo. If you want to set up a double opt-in process for a form created outside of Brevo (using a third-party service), check our dedicated article Set up a double opt-in subscription automation for forms created outside of Brevo.

When sending a double opt-in email to contacts who have subscribed through a sign-up form created in Brevo, you have the option to use our default double opt-in template or create a custom one.

⚙️ Set up your email template

  1. Go to Campaigns > Templates.
  2. Click Create Template > Email template.
  3. Complete the Setup step just like a regular email template. We recommend you write a clear subject line, such as Confirm your subscription.
    💡 Good to know
    Do not add personalization using contact attributes to your double opt-in confirmation template. Since no information is stored in the attributes of the contacts who will receive this email, only the fallback value will be shown.
  4. Click Show Advanced Options.
  5. (Optional) In the Add a tag field, enter optin.
  6. Click Next Step.

🖌️ Design your email template

You can now design your email template and add your confirmation link:

  1. Choose a template design and edit it as desired.
  2. Add a Button block to your template.

  3. Add the Double opt-in link to your button:
    1. Select your button.
    2. Click the Add link icon.
    3. From the Type of link dropdown menu, select Double opt-in link. You can also add a Link title that will appear when you hover the mouse over the button.
    4. Click Insert.

  4. Once you're done, click Save & quit, then Save and activate.

🔗 Link your custom double opt-in confirmation template to your sign-up form

  1. Go to Contacts > Forms:
    1. Select your sign-up form or,
    2. Create a sign-up form as explained in our dedicated articles Create a full page/embedded sign-up form in Brevo and Create a pop-up sign-up form in Brevo.
  2. Select Double confirmation email and choose your custom email template from the dropdown menu:
    • At the Settings step for full page/embedded sign-up forms.

That's it! You can now finish setting up your sign-up form and share it.
