In this article, we will explain how to edit an email template.
Edit an email template
💡 Good to know
If you want to edit an email template but still keep the previous version, we recommend you duplicate it. The duplicate template will appear in the Inactive tab, and you will then be able to edit it from there.
- Go to Campaigns > Templates > Email.
- Search for the email template that you want to edit.
- Click Edit next to it.
- Edit the setup and/or design of the email template:
- Click Setup to rename your template, change its subject line and From name, add an attachment, etc.
- Click Design > Edit the email content to change the layout and content of your email template.
- Once you are done, click Save & Activate or Save & Quit if you do not want to activate your template now.
The email template will be available from:
- Campaigns > Templates > Email or Transactional > Templates,
- Under the My Templates tab when you create an email campaign.
Make an email template active or inactive
💡 Good to know
An email template that is active can be selected from an Automation workflow, whereas an email template that is inactive cannot be selected from an Automation worklow.- Go to Automation > Email Templates.
- To make a template active:
- In the Inactive tab, select a template.
- Click Mark as active.
- To make a template inactive:
- In the Active tab, select a template.
- Click Mark as inactive.
❗️ Important
If a template used in an Automation workflow is inactivated, the workflow will stop running when it comes to the step where the template should have been used. To prevent your workflow from breaking at this step, make sure to edit it and replace the inactivated template.⏩ What's next?
