Part 1: Link your WhatsApp Business account to Brevo

A WhatsApp Business account is a WhatsApp account made specifically for your business, as opposed to the traditional WhatsApp account you’re probably using with friends and colleagues. By connecting it to Brevo, you will be able to send WhatsApp Campaigns, chat with your customers over WhatsApp, and send transactional messages. Use our embedded signup, to create or connect to your Facebook and WhatsApp Business accounts directly from WhatsApp campaigns on Brevo.

Before you start

  • Ensure you understand the difference between the different services offered by WhatsApp and their use cases. To learn more, check our dedicated article What is WhatsApp Business Platform?.
  • Make sure you have:
    ☑️ A valid phone number that is not linked to your WhatsApp personal or business app accounts. This will allow us to send you a verification code. To learn more about the different types of business accounts offered by WhatsApp, check our dedicated article What is WhatsApp Business Platform?.
    ☑️ Your company’s legal business name and address.
    ☑️ Your company's legal business website. The URL must contain your business domain.
    ☑️ The name of your WhatsApp business account as you want to display it. Make sure you respect the WhatsApp Business Display Name guidelines. If your name is rejected by Facebook, you won't be allowed to schedule WhatsApp campaigns.
  • You can connect only one WhatsApp Business Account to Brevo. However, you can have multiple phone numbers connected to the same WhatsApp Business Account. To learn more, check our dedicated article Add multiple phone numbers to your WhatsApp Business Account.
  • If you activated the Two-factor authentification for your Facebook Business account, you must login and authenticate it before linking it to Brevo. To do so: 
    1. Log in to your Facebook Business account.
    2. Enter the code you received by email or SMS and click Continue.
    3. Open your Code generator or 3rd party app to generate a code and enter it.
    4. Click Continue.
    5. Go to Campaigns > WhatsApp and click Login with Facebook. You can now start the onboarding process to link your WhatsApp Business account to Brevo.

Step 1: Access your WhatsApp Business account setup in Brevo

You can link your WhatsApp Business account to Brevo using the WhatsApp campaigns or Conversations app:

💡 Good to know
Once your WhatsApp Business account is connected to Brevo, you will be able to use both WhatsApp in Campaigns to create WhatsApp marketing messages, and WhatsApp in Conversations to receive and send WhatsApp messages to your contacts.

  1. Go to Conversations > Settings > WhatsApp
  2. Click + Connect an account

  3. Ensure you read and understand the three prerequisites to link your WhatsApp Business account to Brevo and click Continue.

Step 2: Create or connect to your Facebook account 

In order to create and sync your WhatsApp Business account to Brevo, you need a Facebook account. Thanks to the embedded signup you will be able to create or connect to your Facebook account directly from Brevo:

  1. From the Log in With Facebook page:
    • If you already have a Facebook account, enter your credentials and click Continue. Then click Continue as ...

    • If you do not have a Facebook account, click Create an account and follow the steps from the embedded signup to create an account. 
      ❗️ Important
      If you need to create a Facebook account, you will have to wait 1 hour to go over the next steps. After one hour, resume from Step 1: 
  2. Once you are connected to your Facebook account, you will be able to setup your Facebook and WhatsApp Business accounts for Brevo. Click Get Started

You will now follow three simple steps to sync your Facebook and WhatsApp Business accounts with Brevo.

Step 3: Connect your Facebook and WhatsApp Business accounts to Brevo

Follow the steps from the embedded signup to create or connect your Facebook and WhatsApp Business accounts to Brevo:

  1. Still from the Log in With Facebook page, click Continue to agree to WhatsApp and Facebook Terms and Conditions.

  2. Create your meta business account
    If you already have a Meta Business account, your information will be filled automatically. Select your Meta Business account from the list or create a new one directly from the embedded signup. Click Next

  3. Create your WhatsApp Business profile
    If you already have a WhatsApp Business profile, your information will be filled automatically. Select your WhatsApp Business profile from the list or create a new one directly from the embedded signup. Click Next.

  4. Add a WhatsApp Business Number
    Choose a phone number for your WhatsApp Business Account.

    You can either:
    • Get a free WhatsApp number
      Your business and display name will need to be reviewed by Meta, which can take up to five business days. The free WhatsApp number is a virtual phone number. It can only be used to send your WhatsApp messages and cannot receive calls or texts.
      ❗️ Important
      If you choose to get a free WhatsApp number, your business and display name will need to be reviewed by Meta. This review can take up to five business days. You will not be able to send any messages with this phone number during the review. 
    • Add a new or existing number
      Enter the number used to create your Facebook account or a new one. Use a valid phone number. You will receive a verification code on this phone number to ensure that it is working and that you own it. 
      💡 Good to know
      You can also migrate your phone number registered with WhatsApp Messenger or WhatsApp Business App to use it with WhatsApp Business Platform.
  5. Choose a verification method. You can either receive a code by Text Message or Voice call. Click Next then type the 6 digit verification code received by text or call and click Next.

Your WhatsApp Business Account is now linked to Brevo! However, you still need to get your WhatsApp Business Account verified by Facebook services to be able to send more than two messages a day with WhatsApp campaigns on Brevo. 

❗️ Important
If you do not verify your WhatsApp Business account within 30 days after its creation, Meta reserves the right to deactivate it and it will no longer be connected to your Brevo account. As long as your WhatsApp Business account has not been verified by Meta, you can only send a limited number of messages to a limited number of WhatsApp users. The verification process can take up to 30 days on Meta's side. Brevo is not responsible for the verification of your WhatsApp Business Account.
