Images play a key role in capturing your recipients' attention and bringing your email design to life. Use the Image content block from the drag and drop email editor to add, customize, and enhance your images. Adjust size, borders, alt text, and edit directly within the editor to make your emails engaging, professional, and on-brand.
🏞️ Insert images in your email design
To insert images in your email design, you first need to drag and drop the Image content block in your email canvas, where you want your image to be:
Once your Image content block is inserted into your canvas, there are several ways to add an image to it:
- Drag and drop from your computer
- Upload to your Content library to reuse images
- Insert from a URL
- Use variables to adapt images to your recipients
- Generate an image with Aura AI
Choose the tab corresponding to the way you want to insert images in your email design:
Easily add images to your email design by dragging and dropping them directly from your system into your Image content block. Your images will automatically be added to your email design and saved to your content library:
Use the content library to upload your own images, use stock or GIF images, create images directly from the email editor. To access the content library, hover over the Image content block and click Select an image:
From there, you will be able to:

To insert an image from a URL, your image needs to be hosted on a publicly accessible website.
- Click the Image content block. The image settings open in the left side bar.
- Under the Visual section, in the Image URL field, paste the direct link to where your image is hosted.
The image will appear in your email without needing to upload it to your Content library and will not be saved into it. When your email is opened, the image is loaded directly from that URL, so any updates made to the file on your website will automatically appear in future email views.
Variables allow you to display dynamic, personalized images in your email automatically. Instead of inserting a fixed image, add a variable that will be replaced in real time when the email is sent, based on the latest data available.

|---|---|
For example, with an event data variable, each recipient will see the image of the data currently linked to them at the time of sending. The data updates automatically, and the image shown will always reflect the most recent version of the data, without manual updates needed.
➡️ To learn more about variables and how you can insert images using them, check our dedicated articles Personalize your emails with event data, Create and send product recommendations with product feeds, and Personalize your email content with real-time data (data feed).

- Choose your preferred size and style in the corresponding drop-down options (e.g., photography, background, vector art, etc.).
- (Optional) Click Add reference images to upload example images that correspond to what you would like to generate. This will help Aura ensure it generates exactly what you want.
- Press Enter or click the arrow icon ⬆ to generate the image. Your image will be automatically saved into your content library.
Aura will generate your image in just a few seconds. If you want to edit your image, you can click Use AI again to refine it by adapting the prompt, or generate a new image.
