About the new drag and drop email editor

The new drag and drop email editor is being released progressively to ensure stability and a smooth experience for all users. As only some users currently have access to the new editor, the articles in our help center will be updated gradually as the rollout expands. Some help articles may still show the previous editor until the new editor is available to everyone.

Discover the redesigned drag and drop email editor! We’ve rebuilt the interface and underlying system to reduce bugs and latency, improve performance, and provide you with an easier and more intuitive way to design your emails. This update brings a fresh look, reorganized menus, and smoother navigation, while preserving and improving the core drag and drop functionality you know.

❓How do I know if I have the new Drag and drop email editor?

When you open the drag and drop email editor, you can identify the version you’re using at a glance:

  • Content blocks icons in green and cream colors in the side panel.
  • Only the Content and Style sections on the left.

If your panel still displays the previous icons or layout, you’re using the classic editor. You’ll automatically receive access to the new version as the rollout continues. The changes are primarily visual and structural, so don't worry, you’re not missing any essential features in the meantime!

🔍 Key changes

The new drag and drop email editor introduces several improvements to make designing emails faster, smoother, and more intuitive. We’ve reorganized key elements of the interface, enhanced the styling experience, unified repeatable content options, and integrated AI directly into your workflow.

Check our dedicated sections to learn more about the different key changes:

A clearer, easier-to-use side panel

The side panel has been completely refreshed with new colors, clearer spacing, and an improved layout. You’ll still find the same content blocks, pre-designed sections, and your saved sections, but in a cleaner and more accessible design.

After

You can still open the Style tab directly from the side panel to set your overall email design before adding content, such as your brand colors, layout, and spacing. Aura AI options have been removed from the side panel. Instead, Aura AI tools are now integrated directly into the editing experience, so you can generate or refine text and images exactly where you’re working, without switching panels.

Visual guidance for padding and margins

The editor now highlights spacing areas directly on the canvas each time you adjust padding or margin. A purple background appears on the affected area, showing exactly where your changes will apply. This makes it easier to understand which spacing you’re modifying and helps you design your layout with more precision.

Aura AI integrated into the editing experience

You can now use Aura AI directly while designing your content

When you insert or edit a text or image content block, an Aura AI modal appears, allowing you to:

  • Generate and refine text.
  • 🔜 Generate and refine images.

Everything happens in context, without needing to open separate tools. This makes the AI experience more intuitive, faster, and better aligned with your design workflow.

A redesigned Style tab

The Style tab has been reorganized and simplified to help you control your email’s global design more efficiently.

After

From there, you can:

  • Access and manage your Brand Library (colors, logos, fonts).
  • Set the email layout (width, structure, spacing).
  • Adjust global spacing and background settings.
  • Enable or edit the “View in browser” link for accessibility.
  • Manage text styles and headings, including font, size, and colors.
  • Control link and button styling for consistent branding.

All global styling options are now grouped more logically, making it easier to establish consistency across your entire email.

A clearer text toolbar with easier access to key actions

The text toolbar has been redesigned to give you easier access to the tools you use most. Instead of floating elements overlapping the canvas, the toolbar now appears in a fixed, cleaner layout, making the editing experience more stable and less cluttered.

You’ll find the most common actions immediately visible and easier to reach, helping you format content or adjust elements more quickly while keeping your canvas fully readable.

A more intuitive HTML content block editing

You can now insert and edit an HTML content block directly from the left panel:

After

dde_after-html-content-block_en-us.png

The HTML content block has been fully integrated into the new editor so you can:

  • Add custom HTML code directly inside your email.
  • See changes applied to the canvas in real time as you edit.
  • Adjust settings and formatting without leaving the block or opening a separate view.

This makes it easier to mix custom-coded elements with drag and drop content blocks while keeping everything visible and consistent in your layout.

A unified way to repeat custom data sources

Repeatable content has been unified and improved through the dynamic content block. This new approach provides a clearer, more intuitive workflow for personalized and data-driven emails while keeping everything in one place:

After

Instead of using the previous Repeatable content feature, you can now:

  1. Insert a dynamic content block into your email.
  2. Select Custom data source.
  3. Fill in the repeat item
    • In the Repeat for field, input the plural version of the first word of your placeholder, e.g. for the section containing the placeholder {{ item.name }} enter items. If you have connected your website to Brevo using one of our plugins, the name is items by default.
    • In the Variable alias field, input the first word in your placeholder, e.g. for the section containing {{ item.name }} the variable is item. If you have connected your website to Brevo using one of our plugins, the name is item by default.
  4. In the Layout section, choose how many times you want to repeat your item from the Number of items field.
  5. Choose from which item you want to start your list in the Index field, 0 being the first item of your list.
  6. In the dynamic content block, drag and drop content blocks to insert the custom data variables you want to repeat.
