About add-ons or Pay as you go (WhatsApp, SMS and email credits, and Dedicated IP)

Pay as you go (Add-ons) allow you to buy credits to send a few hundred SMS and WhatsApp messages or a few thousand email campaigns without subscribing to a monthly or yearly plan. We recommend this option if you don’t send emails, SMS, or WhatsApp messages very often. You can also purchase a dedicated IP as an add-on to manage your email sender reputation. 

Good to know 

  • Add-ons can be used at your pace: they do not expire and will remain valid until you use them all. 
  • You cannot get a refund for add-ons. Make sure you purchase the amount of add-ons you need to avoid wasting them.

Buy packs of SMS or WhatsApp credits to send your SMS and WhatsApp campaigns to a specific location. The price depends on the volume of credits and message destination. 

To purchase SMS and WhatsApp credits: 

  1. From Brevo, go to Your account name > My Plan
  2. From the Add-ons section, click Add credits next to SMS & WhatsApp messages

  3. Select the Type of message you want to send, SMS or WhatsApp. 
    The goal of this step (and the next three ones) is to evaluate the number of credits that must be purchased to fit your needs based on three criteria: Type of messageNumber of messages, and Message destination

  4. Type the Number of messages you want to send. 
  5. Select a Message destination (country) for your messages. 
  6. Click Send more messages to add other credits and repeat steps 3 to 5 until you are done.
    ➡️  For example
    If you want to send 100 WhatsApp messages to France and 500 SMS to Germany, click Send more messages and add your criteria for Germany.

  7. Check the number of credits for each criteria and their price, and click Proceed to checkout.  
  8. If you purchase for the first time on Brevo, complete your billing information and choose your payment method.
  9. Click Pay Now to pay for your credits. 

Your credits can now be used to send SMS or WhatsApp messages 🚀. Your remaining SMS and WhatsApp credits are indicated in Usage and plan at the top-right of your screen:

❓How and when will I be charged? 

You are charged immediately for your SMS and WhatsApp credits, and you won't receive any additional charges for those credits. 

📨 Pay as you go emails

You can buy packs from 5,000 to 1,000,000 emails, and one email credit equals one email sent to one contact. The price of your pay as you go emails pack depends on the volume you purchase.

Pay as you go emails offer all features of Starter plan and the possibility to remove the Sent by Brevo logo from the bottom of all your email campaigns. Your pay as you go emails can be used to send marketing or transactional emails. 

❗️ Important
If you purchased a Messaging API plan, pay as you go emails can only be used for your transactional emails. However, if you have a Conversations Platform plan or Marketing Platform plan, you can use your pay as you go emails for your marketing and transactional emails. 

To purchase pay as you go emails:

  1. Go to My Plan > Add-ons.
  2. Click Add credits next to Pay as you go emails.
  3. Use the slider to choose the volume of pay as you go emails you need.account_purchase-pag-emails_EN-US.gif
  4. Click Proceed to checkout
  5. If you purchase for the first time on Brevo, complete your billing information and choose your payment method.
  6. Click Pay Now to pay for your credits. 

Your credits can now be used to send marketing campaigns and transactional emails 🚀. Your remaining email credits are indicated in Usage and plan at the top-right of your screen:

❓ What happens to my plan after I purchase pay as you go emails?

If you're on a Starter, Business, or Enterprise plan, the pay as you go (PAG) emails you purchase will be added to your existing plan credits. The system will use the plan credits first and if they are depleted before the month ends, it will use the PAG emails as backup credits. Your next bill includes only your monthly plan charges.

However, if you're on a Free plan, the 300 free emails/day will be overwritten by the purchased PAG emails. Note that you can go back to a free plan manually anytime by downgrading.

💡 Good to know
Pay as you go credits do not expire at the end of the month, regardless of your plan.

❓ How and when will I be charged? 

You are charged immediately for your pay as you go email credits, and you won't receive any additional charges for those credits. 

❓ Can I go back to a free plan?

You can go back to a free plan anytime. Once you have switched to a free plan, you will lose your remaining pay as you go credits if you had some and all the features of Starter plan with the possibility to remove the Brevo logo.

🌎 Dedicated IP 

❗️ Important
A dedicated IP is not adapted for small senders (<3000 emails a day) and for irregular senders. You should only get a dedicated IP if you plan on sending at least 3 campaigns a week to a minimum of 3000 emails. That means, if you only plan on sending once a month, a dedicated IP is not right for you.

You can only buy one dedicated IP at a time. To purchase your dedicated IP, go to My Plan > Add-ons, click Add dedicated IP and Proceed to checkout

❓How and when will I be charged? 

When you purchase a dedicated IP, you must pay for it each year. You have a one-year engagement and cannot be refunded. Your subscription to dedicated IP is automatically renewed each year on your billing date, which is when you purchased your dedicated IP for the first time.
